Snowdrop started as a short sentence sent to me by artist Sarah Boulton, who is based near the west coast of Scotland. I set Sarah’s words originally for double choir (SSAATTBB) with vibraphone and violin. Several versions of the piece have been requested and performed:

Snowdrop for choir, vibraphone and cello, performed by Fenham Ensemble, Gabriel Waite and Mark Edwards in Spring 2024, in Newcastle, conducted by the composer.

Snowdrop for mezzo soprano, violin and harmonium, performed by Galzanize ensemble in Spring 2024, in Newcastle.

Snowdrop for choir and mixed ensemble, performed by Musarc choir and Standard Issue in Spring 2023, in London, conducted by Jack Sheen.

Snowdrop for voice and piano, performed by the composer in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Sunderland.

Duration: 3-4 minutes.
